Fr. Rick Heilman was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin; baptized at Queen of Peace; went to St. Maria Goretti school, Edgewood HS, Loras College (earning a BS in Psychology) and then to the seminary in Mundelin, IL. He has a Burnese Mountain Dog named Angel and he calls her his “dainty little girl”. His immediate family consists of his dad, 3 sisters and 2 brothers that all live in the Madison area. Packer parties have always been a highlight of the fall season for the Heilman family. Fr. Rick has memories of everyone gathering on Sunday afternoons for a lot of excitement of cheering the Packers on!

What is your Philosophy of Life? Simply love. His favorite quote is: “To say that I’m made in the image of God is to say that Love is the reason for my existence, for God is Love.”

People are surprised to hear that: I was on the all-state football team and that my brother, Joe, was a good friend to comedian, Chris Farley. They graduated from HS together and Joe was part of Chris’s comedy routine as a heckler in the crowd when he played local comedy clubs. Also, Rick’s dad, who was once the athletic director at St. Maria Goretti, was able to get Bart Starr, former Green Bay Packer great, Gary Bender, a former local newscaster and the Bishop at the time, to attend Fr. Rick’s athletic banquet!
